The GitHub Copilot for Xcode extension now introduces image uploads in chat through Copilot Vision, allowing you to interact with screenshots, designs, and other visuals directly in Xcode. We’ve also added support for global and workspace-level custom instructions and locale-aware responses, along with a new auto-attach chat window ability to streamline your workflow.

What’s new ✨

  • Copilot Vision: Upload and interact with images directly in Copilot Chat to get visual insights and assistance. Whether it’s a screenshot of an error, a diagram, or a UI mockup, Copilot Vision helps you understand and reason about visual content right inside Xcode.
  • Custom instructions: Customize how Copilot responds to you! You can now configure custom instructions at both the global level and per workspace. Tailor Copilot’s behavior and tone to better suit your coding style and project needs.

  • Locale responses support: Copilot Chat now supports locale-aware responses. You can manually set your preferred language in the GitHub Copilot for Xcode settings to receive replies that match your development language.

UX improvements ⚡️

The Copilot Chat window now auto-attaches to your Xcode workspace and can be toggled in settings.
