We’re challenging you to create your very own GitHub Actions
Starting March 5, we’re hosting an online GitHub Actions Hackathon challenging you to create original Actions.

Whether you want to try creating your first GitHub Action, or you simply want to make more, join us for the first online GitHub Actions Hackathon starting March 5. Create an Action to help solve problems, build containers, deploy to any cloud, and more—and don’t forget to submit your very own. The first one thousand submissions get free GitHub swag!
Actions for everyone
GitHub Actions makes it easy to automate all your software workflows. You can build, test, and deploy your code right from GitHub. And you can also make code reviews, branch management, and issue triaging work the way you want. Even better, it’s now easier than ever to automate with world-class CI/CD using GitHub Actions.
Here are just a few GitHub Actions to inspire you:
- Waka-box updates a pinned gist with your weekly WakaTime stats about your work.
- AWS ECR allows you to create Docker images and push into an ECR repository.
- Image Actions automatically compresses JPEG, PNG, and WebP images in pull requests.
Join the fun
Beginners, experts, and everyone in-between are welcome to participate and start hacking from March 5 (Thursday) through March 31 (Tuesday). Check out the FAQ and official rules for more information, and don’t forget to subscribe for updates. We can’t wait to see what you make!
