We’re happy to announce a Patchwork hack night on Thursday, September 18, 2014, co-hosted with our friends at Dev Bootcamp NYC’s campus.
Patchwork is a hands-on workshop for learning Git and GitHub. Join us for a night of hacking and snacking, and make some new friends while you’re at it!
Forks you don’t eat with? Branches not made of wood?
Newcomers to Git and GitHub, you’ll leave with a merged Pull Request, a square on your contributions graph, and confidence to get more involved in the open source community.
Mentors, if you’ve ever had a Pull Request merged, now’s your chance to share the love and help someone else create some magic.
Myself, @chrissiebrodigan @dewski @rothsa @balevine @bleikamp @rachelmyers and other GitHub staff, and local community mentors will be on hand to answer your questions and help you achieve your first merged Pull Request.
@aroben will kick the event off with a talk on how he got started in programming and a community member will close things out with a lightning talk on an open source project.
Details:
Once registered, you’ll receive an email a few days before the event with details on what to have installed on your computer so you can hit the ground running.
