Your guide to GitHub InFocus: Improving the way software development teams work in 2022
We’re kicking off InFocus, a global virtual event focused on accelerating, securing, and improving the way software development teams work.
GitHub InFocus is almost here. This year, InFocus takes place virtually from April 26-29 featuring a new theme on each day—accelerate, secure, and improve—focused on bringing you the tools and expertise to help your software development teams do their best work. If you’re looking to learn directly from industry experts and business leaders on how they’re tackling the latest security, efficiency, and software development challenges for developers, take a look at what you can expect from each day, and make sure to register for our featured sessions below.
April 26: Global keynote with GitHub leadership
Join us for the InFocus keynote broadcast centering on ways GitHub is helping your business accelerate software development, ship your most secure software, and increase efficiency. Speakers include GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke; GitHub SVP of Product Matthew McCullough; GitHub Principal Solutions Engineer Kevin Alwell; and GitHub Staff Researcher Eirini Kalliamvakou.
Here’s what we’ll cover:
- A preview of where GitHub is headed this year

- How the SPACE framework can help your team’s productivity
No registration is required for this virtual event. Just add it to your calendar, and we’ll see you online.
April 27: Accelerating your software development
DevOps is a commonly used term in developer spaces, but what does it actually mean? Implementing a successful DevOps practice requires an internal culture shift in collaboration, process, measurement, and more.
If you’re interested in learning how to reach your business goals faster, tune in to the session, “Propelling your DevOps to new heights” with Senior Technical Advocate at GitHub, Jon Peck, and Principal Solutions Engineer at GitHub, Glenn Wester. Glenn hopes attendees are “empowered to create a secure, high-quality development pipeline leveraging GitHub’s latest tools and infrastructure.”
Expect to engage in discussions of how adding essential security, audit, and compliance processes into your pipeline ensures higher quality code and faster deployments for your business.
April 28: Shipping your most secure software
Next up is security. What does it take to really help prioritize developer-first security practices in the software development cycle?
As Shlomi Shaki, Application Security Executive at GitHub says, “Developer-first security is more than just having the right tools and processes in the hands of developers. It’s about having a culture, mindset, and environment that empowers developers to build security easily instead of making it an afterthought.”
If you want to stop thinking of security as a task and start thinking of it as an asset, this session is for you. Join “Building a frictionless application security program” with GitHub’s Application Security Executive, Shlomi Shaki, and GitHub’s Director of Solutions Engineering, Pierluigi Cau.
Shlomi hopes business leaders will take away some practical steps on how to “…improve cyber safety and resilience of applications by eliminating activities, processes, and tools that add friction, as well as streamlining how to find and fix vulnerabilities early.”
April 29: Improving your team’s efficiency
While improving organizational efficiency through collaboration, innersource, and following open source principles should be a core component of the software development cycle, it’s easier said than done.
If you’re wondering what organizational efficiency means for businesses, this one’s for you. In short, Principal Solutions Engineer at GitHub Bas Peters describes the concept as “helping enterprises reduce waste in their development process so developers can focus on doing their best work.” Join Maya Van Vliet, Enterprise Account Manager at GitHub, and Bas for the session, “What true “organizational efficiency” means—and how to get your business there.”
You’ll leave this session with tactics, tools, and concepts that’ll directly impact your time-to-market and competitive advantage.
And these are just a few of the sessions we have in store for you. Do you want to learn more? Tune in to GitHub InFocus for the full list of sessions across the globe, starting on April 26 at 11 am PT / 2 pm ET.
