Removing support for connecting to GitHub Enterprise Server 3.1 from GitHub Mobile

GitHub Mobile can no longer connect to GitHub Enterprise Server 3.1. To enable connections from GitHub Mobile to GitHub Enterprise Server, a site administrator must upgrade to GitHub Enterprise Server 3.2 or later. Newer versions of GitHub Enterprise Server improve performance, enhance security, and provide new features. For more information, see "GitHub Enterprise Server releases" and "Upgrading GitHub Enterprise Server."

Lists are now available on GitHub Mobile for Android

Lists are now available on all platforms, including github.com, iOS and Android! Lists level up the starring experience by making it easy to organize and curate your favorite repositories on GitHub. You can create public lists by starring a repo anywhere in the app. You can also delete lists, manage your Lists' titles and descriptions and see other's Lists.

GitHub Mobile can now verify sign-ins on unrecognized devices

Device verification protects new sessions if you don’t have two-factor authentication enabled, using an email notification. We’ve updated this feature to allow you to verify your sign in using GitHub Mobile. Device verification will by default use GitHub Mobile notifications. However, you can still request an email notification if your phone is unavailable.

Push notifications for pull request review activities on GitHub Mobile

GitHub Mobile now supports push notifications for pull request review activities – you will get notified when someone approves, comments, or requests changes on your pull requests. GitHub Mobile also support push notifications when you’re directly mentioned, requested to review a pull request, assigned a task or requested to approve a deployment for a protected environment. You can enable these new push notification types within Settings > Notifications.

A Redesigned Explore tab on GitHub Mobile

The Explore tab on GitHub Mobile has been redesigned to make it easier to find the best projects on GitHub!

Find personalized repository recommendations based on your past contributions and previously starred repositories. It's now possible to find trending projects in the last day, week, or month, and get even more specific with filters for specific programming or spoken languages.

The Explore tab now also displays a list of contributors for each repository, so be sure to go give your favorites a follow.

Better deep linking experiences on GitHub Mobile

If you use notifications on GitHub Mobile, you've probably had the frustrating experience of tapping on a notification only to end up in the wrong place on the timeline, unsure of exactly what triggered the notification and where to start reading. We've improved this experience so that notifications and other app deep links will scroll you to the correct place. Triaging notifications on the go should now feel much faster and reliable!

Working with pull requests on GitHub Mobile is now much easier

We are shipping improvements to pull request workflows on GitHub Mobile, making reviewing and merging pull requests much easier on the go!

  • The pull request description has been moved into the header, providing quick context about the changes without having to scroll to the timeline. Longer descriptions are truncated and can be expanded inline with a tap.
  • We brought the merge box designs more closely in line with GitHub.com. By using clear colors and iconography, it is easier to scan through the overall status of a pull request to understand the current state of reviews, checks, and overall mergeability.
  • We added a contextual call to action in the Files Changed cell that will help people understand when their review is required, or when new changes have been pushed to the pull request since their last review.
  • When reviews and checks are passing, pull requests can be merged directly from the view without having to open new dialogs. We've also built a fun animation that plays during a merge which will make working on the go feel more satisfying!

Releases support comments and reactions with Discussion linking

You can now link discussions to new releases!

When drafting a new release, check the Create a discussion for this release box, choose a category, and publish. Your community will be able to react and comment on the release notes, giving projects more opportunities to celebrate and receive feedback. Release discussions are also available natively on GitHub Mobile.
