Live Coding Agent Notifications are now available on GitHub Mobile, making it easier to stay on top of your Copilot coding agent and supported third-party agent sessions while you’re on the go. Agent sessions started from GitHub.com, GitHub Mobile, or the CLI can surface real-time updates directly on your phone.

Using Live Activities, you’ll see key session details such as the related pull request title and current status, and you can tap through to the pull request in the app to quickly review changes and keep work moving.

Supported session states

Live Coding Agent Notifications currently show these states:

  • In progress
  • Completed
  • Failed
  • Cancelled

Availability

Live Coding Agent Notifications are currently available for pull request agent sessions initiated by:

  • Copilot coding agent
  • Supported third-party agents, such as Codex and Claude

Supported iOS versions: Live Activities require iOS 17.2+
Supported Android OS versions: Live Update Notifications require Android 16 or later. You will still receive progress notifications for your agents if you are using an older version.

Only cloud-run sessions are supported today.

How to disable

If you’d rather not use Live Activities, you can disable them in Settings. The first live notification also includes a “Disable Live Updates” button for quick opt-out.

This is now available on the latest production build of GitHub Mobile on iOS and Android.
