Copilot coding agent is our asynchronous, background developer agent. Delegate a task to Copilot, and it opens a draft pull request, makes changes in the background, then requests review from you.

After Copilot coding agent requests your review, you can leave comments, mentioning @copilot, to ask it to make changes. This starts a new session.

Now, Copilot remembers context between sessions for the same pull request, instead of exploring the repository and reading the same files again and again. This makes the agent faster and more reliable for follow-up requests.

Copilot coding agent is available to Copilot Pro, Copilot Pro+, Copilot Business, and Copilot Enterprise subscribers. If you’re a Copilot Business or Copilot Enterprise subscriber, an administrator will have to enable Copilot coding agent from the “Policies” page before you can use it.
