In May, we launched Copilot coding agent, our autonomous developer agent. You can delegate tasks to Copilot, and Copilot will work in the background and create a draft pull request for your review.

With the new Agents panel, available on every page on github.com, you can quickly hand new tasks to Copilot and monitor progress without breaking your flow.

To open the Agents panel, click the Agents button in the header, next to the Copilot button.

When you open the panel, you’ll see a list of tasks you’ve delegated to Copilot, with a clear status for each. To head to the pull request, just click on a task in the list.

To hand a new task to Copilot, just pick a repository (and optional base branch), describe what you want in natural language, then hit Return.

Who can use this feature

Copilot coding agent and the Agents panel are available to all Copilot Pro and Copilot Pro+ users, plus Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise users where an administrator has enabled Copilot coding agent.
