Improvement
Defense of third-party claims added for volume licensing customers
We’ve updated our Pre-release License Terms to make it easier for our enterprise customers to try out GitHub preview features.
- Indemnity now included: Volume licensing customers are now covered by indemnity protections when using pre-release software and its outputs.
-
No more blanket exclusion: We’ve removed the previous “no indemnity” language from our pre-release terms.
-
Liability cap removed: The usual liability cap does not apply to these new indemnity protections.
Who’s covered?
Customers using GitHub under a GitHub Customer Agreement or Microsoft volume licensing agreement.
Note: Individual users and other plan types are not affected by this change.
Effective date: July 9, 2025
