Enterprise enabled policy for GitHub Models updated
We’ve updated the Enabled policy in enterprise-level settings for GitHub Models. Previously, selecting Enabled meant organizations could choose to turn on GitHub Models, but it remained off by default. Now, the updated Enabled policy forces GitHub Models on for all organizations and repositories in the enterprise and they can no longer disable it.
This brings our total enterprise-level policy options to three:
- Enabled: GitHub Models is on everywhere and cannot be disabled by repositories.
- Disabled: GitHub Models is off everywhere and cannot be enabled by repositories.
- No policy: Organization-level admins decide whether to enable GitHub Models.
This update gives enterprises more control and supports consistent adoption of GitHub Models. It’s especially helpful for customers who want to mandate AI tooling across their orgs.
To avoid surprises, all enterprises previously using the old Enabled option have been migrated to No policy. Enterprises can opt in to the new Enabled policy if they want to enforce universal availability.
