We are building a private space for maintainers to connect with peers, preview features, and learn from each other!
Every day millions of people interact with open source software. But despite its reach, the people behind the software—the ones powering our digital world—don’t always have the community or support they need. To help with this, we are building a private space for maintainers to connect with peers, preview features, and learn from each other!
If you’re an open source maintainer, you can request an invite to the private Maintainer Community on GitHub. We’re launching new programming for maintainers including:
The Maintainer Community is a private part of the public GitHub Community, a space for all GitHub users to ask questions, share product feedback, and be inspired.
Our first Maintainer Community workshop, “Personal ecology for open source maintainers: self-care and avoiding burnout,” will be on Wednesday, April 5 at 9 am PT / 12 pm ET.
In this interactive workshop, maintainers will discuss the importance of personal ecology and steps they can take to improve their own balance, pacing, and efficiency. We’ll document and share best practices to help other maintainers avoid burnout.
Join the Maintainer Community to learn more and register!
We hope you’ll join us as we gear up for Maintainer Month this May. Stay tuned for more information on our Maintainer Month celebrations!
This summer, we invited devs to participate in our hackathon for joyful, ridiculous, and wildly creative projects. Here are the winners of For the Love of Code!
Log4Shell proved that open source security isn’t guaranteed and isn’t just a code problem. It’s about supporting, enabling, and empowering the people behind the projects that build our digital infrastructure.
GitHub Copilot and VS Code teams, along with the Microsoft Open Source Program Office (OSPO), sponsored these nine open source MCP projects that provide new frameworks, tools, and assistants to unlock AI-native workflows, agentic tooling, and innovation.
