Tweets with links to GitHub just got a whole lot prettier. By supporting Twitter Cards on GitHub, any tweets containing a link to a GitHub repository will provide more context when viewed on Twitter.com. Here’s an example:

The Twitter Card will display the repository name and owner in the typical username/repo-name style, the repository description and the appropriate gravatar.

Of course, links on Twitter to GitHub Gists are also supported. We love seeing the millions of tweets that share links to code on GitHub, so we’re really glad to be able to help make them even more useful at a glance.

Enjoy!
